Body of woman and new born baby found burnt and dumped in forest

The bodies of a woman and her new born baby who found burnt and dumped in Dundori forest have been identified as the family tried to come to terms with the beastly action.

The duo hail from Gilgil and were kidnapped last week, murdered and later dumped in the forest tens of kilometers from their home.

According to Grace Njeri, her 30 year old sister Teresia Wanjiru went missing with her one year old baby Pendo Wema from their home in unclear circumstances on the 17th of February.

Njeri said that the deceased was a trader in the Gilgil air market and was on her way to Nakuru when she was hijacked by some people who first tortured her before killing her and the minor.

She said that they made a report in Gilgil and Bahati police stations after the incident adding that the murder caught them by surprise.

“We are not sure what transpired or why they decided to murder an innocent minor before setting their bodies on fire,” she said tears dropping down her cheeks.

Njeri said that her sister left behind a boy in class seven adding that they had so many unanswered questions and called on police to move fast and nab those involved.

“We suspect that someone lured her from her place of work and for unknown reasons murdered her and the baby before dumping the bodies in the forest,” she said.

A senior police officer from Gilgil confirmed that the incident had reported in the station adding that they were working with their colleagues in Bahati to resolve the grisly murder.

“This was a planned job and we are seeking data from one of the mobile phone companies so that we can trace her last moments,” said the officer.
