COTU has contested the decision made by Kenya Airways management to terminate ten senior captains under the guise of early retirement. The union says the airline failed to follow the laid down procedures in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

However, a statement from KQ said the 10 pilots were set to retire in the near future and the notice letters were issued as part of the reduction in the B777-200 fleet.
