Five thugs gunned down in Nairobi, weapons recovered

Five suspected thugs were last night shot dead in separate incidents in the war on crime in Nairobi and weapons recovered from them.

Three were killed in Mukuru area in a botched robbery on a woman and a gun found on them. Police say they wanted to rob a woman when an alarm was raised.

Two others managed to escape on foot.

Another suspect was shot and killed in Buruburu area and a second one in Mlango Kubwa area. The bodies were moved to the mortuary.

Police say they have increased patrols to address incidents of violent robberies in the city.

Meanwhile, the national police service commission is today set to launch the validation exercise for six policies for the National police service. These policies will guide police operations and are part of transformation exercise ongoing in the service.

A number of officers from AP are set to be absorbed into the regular police as part of the transformation plans.
