As a professional footballer, there are few better feelings than scoring to help your team to victory... but Wigan's Ryan Colclough may just have found one.

After netting not once, but twice in the Latics' victory over Doncaster, the winger was substituted in order to make it to hospital just in time for the birth of his son.

Still in his full kit, a picture was shared on social media by Wigan chairman David Sharpe, with Colclough looking lovingly down at his newborn child.

The picture sent Twitter into a frenzy, with one user commenting: 'Wondered why he absolutely legged it down the tunnel on being subbed! Lovely story!'

Colclough started the League One match for Wigan, netting his side's second and third goals against Doncaster at the DW Stadium, before being subbed three minutes later.

Explaining the situation, assistant manager Leam Richardson said: 'At half-time we got the message that his missus' waters had broken, his second child.

'As soon as he got his second goal he was off the pitch, because his head was somewhere else.
