One Officer Injured After Al Shabaab Militants Ambushed And Burnt Two Police Vehicles In Mandera

Al-Shabaab militants last evening ambushed and burnt two police land cruisers in an attack in Dabacity area, Mandera County.
The vehicles with 12 officers were escorting a bus to Mandera when they were hit by rocket propelled grenades. One officer is missing but his colleagues say he has communicated from a hideout in the area.
Another officer was injured during the ambush as the militants moved to burn the vehicles before escaping. Efforts to trace the missing officer is ongoing.
A gun is also missing amid speculations the terrorists escaped with it. No passenger in the bus was affected as it had passed the scene. Police say the attack is the latest after a lull of three months during which no incident was reported.
Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death in an incident in Waithaka area, Nairobi. The victim was found dead near an apartment he had been staying before he moved out in May.
Police say they are yet to know the killer of the victim and that he had wounds in the chest and neck. The body was moved to the mortuary. A team is investigating the incident with an aim of making an arrest. Locals suspect the man was killed by someone known to him.
