The officer was off duty when he was confronted by his killers who wanted to rob him of his money and other valuables. Police say the officer resisted prompting the stabbing.
He died on the spot as his attackers escaped on foot. The body was moved to the mortuary as a hunt on the killers was launched.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident where a man was found dead after he inhaled carbon monoxide gas from a jiko he had lit in Kariobangi area, Nairobi.
The man had been alone in his house when he was found dead. Police say the wife of the man was away at the time of the incident. The body of the man was moved to the mortuary as a probe was launched.
In Kabete, the body of a lecturer was found in his house after a suspected sudden death. The lecturer at the nearby Kabete campus is suspected to have dropped dead.
