Beauty and brains: Short profile of nominated Nairobi health CEC Stellah Bosire

Stellah Bosire, was not a name many Kenyans recognized until this week when Mike Sonko nominated the her to become the health CEC for Nairobi County.

Stellah was born in Gatwekera, Kibera, 34 years ago, and is the second-born in a family of five children. Hers is a rags to riches success story as she worked hard, pulling herself from abject poverty herself from the slums to become the current Kiambu medical superintendent.

Her areas of expertise and interest in the subject; has been involved in conducting policy briefs, documentaries, research, project review and evaluation studies and baseline surveys in the following areas; Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); HIV; TB; Human Rights; Key Population; Public Health; Training and Gender being a crosscutting theme.

She is a senior-level manager with extensive experience implementing programs, day-to-day program operations, performance management plans, and partner and donor relationships. Natural ability for forging and maintaining relationships with colleagues from partner organizations as well as building capacity within local partners and researchers of all levels.

Dr. Stellah is an Aspen 2018 fellow, Future Leaders Connect Fellow and was named in Top 40 Under 40, 2017 by Business Daily as one of the most influential women in Kenya.
